How Eventful!

Hello world. This weekend was such an eventful weekend for me! I got to check off two of the things on my New Year’s Resolutions list. And it’s only January!

1. I got my cartilage pierced! It’s one of those little silver hoops with the metal ball. I was so nervous. My mom and I went into this place, Hot Rod Piercing Company, and it had loud music, but was actually painted a friendly yellow. There were three young tattooed, pierced guys standing around. So they helped us out (after I obtained a picture ID, who knew minors needed one?) and told me all about the procedure and how it was gonna go down. So then after signing stuff and telling me about care afterwards, etc, etc, my mom and I went back into a room where they have a funny looking chair. Like a bed that someone bent up kind of. But more legit. And one of the nice guys was just talking to me about it, while my mom chilled and chatted with another one of them. I chose the placement of it and then we got all ready. He told me to take a deep breath in and when I had exhaled it, it was over! He had already poked this needle through my cartilage. It hardly hurt at all. Mostly pressure and an awkward poke. You could hear it pop through, but it was nothing awful. And my pain tolerance isn’t too high. The weirdest part was him putting the earring in, I just had the feeling that I wanted him to stop poking around near my ear. But again, nothing bad at all! However I was slightly light headed after so the let me just sit there and brought me a cup of water. How kindly. :) So I just sat there for a minute or two getting my brain back together.

Then I thought afterwards would be when it would actually hurt. Surprisingly, no. It was just a sort of dull throb, not even pain. More just awkward presence of something in your ear. And maybe four hours later it wasn’t red anymore. And today it only hurts if I move the earring around. But sleeping on it, not such a good idea yet. I can’t wait until I can finally sleep on my left side again, since it’s been all of, what, one day. How perilous! So I recommend Hot Rod Piercing Company for sure. :)

2. I got my license! :D So I can now legally drive around town. I’m so successful. But that man who tested me wasn’t in a very patient/kind mood. I parallel parked awkwardly, but I did it. And I drove fine. So now I have my temporary license! And now I just need to learn to drive my little Kevin. :) So for now it’s driving of the van for me. Oh well, I feel so official. I hope I’m not gonna be made errand child, knowing my luck though I will be.

Now I’ve got to go do some homework. Reread Wide Sargasso Sea for tomorrow. As if I understood it in the first place. And babysit tonight. Oh sigh, back to the daily CHAOS.
