My Cooking Sense are Tingling
Good afternoon! I’m currently at work, pondering the meaning of life, scouring the internet, imagining things I could be cooking, things I have to bake, skirts I need to sew, and books I need to read. I’m currently in the middle of reading “Rebel Angels” which is the sequel to “A Great and Terrible Beauty” (both by Libba Bray). Good books, the second one is currently proving to be more interesting. Sadly I am at work, which means the reading has to be put off until I get home. :( And potentially until after dinner.
Which brings me to my next point, dinner. What to have for dinner tonight is the question. So I’ve resorted to sitting on the computer hunting down recipes that will use our new fresh veggies before they go bad. (My favorite food finding sites— www.foodgawker.com and just found today www.tastespotting.com) Delicious. I probably get too much enjoyment out of going through those websites and sending myself recipes for the future. Is it bad that sometimes I hope to grow up to just be a stay at home mom who occasionally goes into work for the nearest library? I feel like I’m dooming myself to a life of monotony before I’ve even begun my life. I still have college, maybe grad school ahead of me, heck I haven’t even started thinking about a future career! But I can just marry semi-rich, to someone I love, eventually have a kid, then cook and bake and read and sew, and with somewhat of a purpose—feeding others! I may never be able to live alone, I’ll always have to have a roommate, because cooking is always too much for one person.
For dinner last night we had a delicious swiss chard and feta cheese frittata. Nutritious and delicious. Today I’m dying to go home and make chocolate chip zucchini bread. Sounds odd, but is in fact incredibly delicious, the loaf doesn’t usually last for more than four days. So I’ve decided maybe I’ll start to turn this into a cooking/baking blog a little, you know, because of course I’m a terribly professional and legitimate chef. And maybe post some things I sew— if I ever do, that is.
Speaking of sewing, I’m incredibly excited to try and sew this fabulous skirt from WWANW. (Skirt tutorial!) If you haven’t checked out her blog, please do so. She has the most adorable outfits. Also in her post is where she got the pattern, Freshly Picked. I’m heading out to buy fabric tomorrow morning! And hopefully will be able to conquer one skirt this weekend, as well as conquering the daunting task of learning to drive my stick shift car, Kevin… Eep!
Now onto hunting for dinner ideas… I’ll post about it tomorrow, maybe? And crossing my fingers that my mom permits me to make chocolate chip zucchini bread, she put a ban on my baking for the time being… She says I’ve made too much.
